Yes, we use fresh goat milk straight from our own clean tested dairy herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats. Our soaps are made with 100% goat milk, never any water added. This makes the process of our goat milk soap making more complicated, but the end product is a high-quality goat milk soap. Different from most on the market today. Where most milk soaps are mostly made with water and just a small percentage of goat milk added to the oil phase.
Yes, all of our products are pH balanced at time of making, if it's a lotion. All of our Soaps are pH tested after the cure. pH-balanced products are designed to be gentle on the skin, reducing the risk of irritation. Some active ingredients in lotions and skincare products work optimally within a certain pH range. Ensuring that the product is pH balanced helps these ingredients function as intended, providing maximum benefits to the skin. Our goat milk lotions have a pH range of 5-5.5 and our soaps are mildly alkaline at a pH of 7-9.
In summary, using pH-balanced soaps and lotions is essential for maintaining the skin's health, preventing irritation, and ensuring that skincare products work effectively.
Lye, or sodium hydroxide, is a key ingredient in the soap-making process. The use of lye in soap making is crucial because it facilitates a chemical reaction known as saponification. Saponification is the process through which oils and fats combine with lye to form soap. This reaction results in the transformation of the ingredients into soap and glycerin. Yes, we use Lye in our soap making process, but there will be no lye left in the soap after saponification.
